MUMBAI: Corona-imposed restrictions have been relaxed in several Indian states, including Maharashtra. One by one things are being carefully started by reviewing Corona's situation. In Mumbai, those who have taken 2 doses of vaccine and have completed 14 days after taking the second dose are allowed to travel by train. Decisions have also been taken to start classes in certain schools and open religious places. Film-theaters will also be launched from October 22. A third wave of corona was expected in September-October, but vaccinations, the production of antibodies needed by citizens to fight corona, and restrictions imposed by the central and state governments do not appear to have triggered the outbreak. The question was whether this would lead to a third wave.

Though many things are reviving in many states of India, including Maharashtra, there is still concern among the people about the possible third wave of Kovid-19. The good thing is that vaccination has gained momentum in the country and especially in Maharashtra. Since September, 60 to 70 lakh people are being vaccinated daily in India. So far, the incidence of corona has been declining in the states where the incidence of corona has been high. Maharashtra, which has been hit the hardest by the first two waves of the corona, has seen a low positivity rate. Also in the state of Kerala, the positivity rate is low. Another thing is that a recent survey conducted in Mumbai showed that about 70 to 80 per cent of the people now have antibodies to fight Kovid-19.

In Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai, 50 per cent of people have been vaccinated (meaning people have received both doses of the vaccine) and about 90 per cent have received one dose. This has led to the formation of antibodies in humans through disease and vaccination. Another thing that needs to be understood is that the second wave was mainly due to the Delta variant. Delta was more contagious than other variants and had an incubation period of 2 to 4 days. If we compare the rates of viruses between the Delta and Delta Plus variants, there is not much difference between them. According to previous reports, no new variants of the corona virus have been reported in the country since Delta was launched earlier this year.
