New Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS) The Supreme Court has directed the state government to submit a report on the Lakhimpur-Khiri violence case in Uttar Pradesh. The Supreme Court has itself (Sumoto) filed a petition in this regard. The court clarified that the details of who has been charged in the case, who is the accused and who is in custody should be mentioned in the report.
The event was organized by the BJP at this place. Protesters against the Agriculture Act had gathered at Lakhimpur Khiri carrying black flags to oppose the BJP leaders. At this time, two BJP vehicles collided and four of them died. Four people, including a journalist, were killed in the violence by protesters. After a total of 8 deaths in the state, the Opposition has heated up politics over the Lakhimpur-Khiri issue.
